Honrando el nombre del reconocido creador de comics, Will Eisner, estos premios están en su ceremonia numero veintiuno, ensalzando lo que consideran, lo mejor de la industria de la historieta estadounidense en el año pasado. El panel de jueces escogidos para este año consiste de Amanda Emmert (de Muse Comics & Games en Missoula, MT), Mike Pawuk (bibliotecario de servicios públicos para adolescentes por la Biblioteca Publica de Cuyahoga, Ohio), John Shableski (gerente de ventas de Distribución de Diamond Book), Ben Towle (novelista grafico y maestro de arte en historietas) y Andrew Wheeler (critico de comics y manga en ComixMix). Este año, los jueces han hecho una reducción en categorías de 29 a 26.
La entrega de los premios se dará durante la Convención de historietas más popular de los Estados Unidos (‘Comic-Con International’) que se celebra en San Diego. Será la noche del 24 de julio de este año, cuando se hagan públicos los ganadores y se entreguen los galardones en una fiesta especial que marca el punto clave de dicho certamen.
